Oak Island Police Criminal Investigations

Det. Kristy Cox      Det. Mike Oxford      Det. Sgt. Tony Burke

Det. Sgt. Tony Burke moved to Brunswick County in 1987 from Fayetteville, NC. Tony has been employed in law enforcement for 12 years. He worked with a couple of smaller departments before settling with Long Beach Police Department in 1998 as a patrol officer. Shortly after the consolidation as Yaupon and Long Beach into Oak Island, he and several other officers helped create Oak Island PD’s bicycle patrol team and began an organized field training program for the department. After several years of training in patrol, he transferred to investigations. After two and half years was promoted to Sergeant in investigations and works with the other department instructors to train and improve the training and skills of the department as well as teaching BLET for Brunswick Community College. Tony supervises three other investigators. Two of them are criminal investigators and one interdiction/K9 officer.  He enjoys camping and riding motorcycles when not at work.
